A SKYTRAK RESOLUTION! GOALS FOR 2021
2021…. wow, 2020 is finally over!
THE SKYTRAK EXPERIENCE
When we first set out to define our approach to what would become the SkyTrak experience, we knew we had to start with a blank canvas. Our previous experience at the time, as with nearly every other launch monitor company in an overly-saturated niche market, was focused almost exclusively on the commercial account/professional user. Golf technology was progressing at an astounding rate and the amount of data becoming available to the end-user was staggering, if not completely overwhelming. We made the decision that, in order to connect with the average golfer and avoid what I call “data overload”, we had to Keep It Simple Stupid.
A CLUB TINKERER’S GUIDE TO USING SKYTRAK
The title of this blog should say it all.
THE BEGINNING OF A BEAUTIFUL RELATIONSHIP
First, let me start with a disclaimer. Yes, I work for SkyTrak and yes, I am an avid SkyTrak user.

Who Will Win The Wanamaker
At Kiawah, the wind plays a huge factor. The greens are not only firm, but they are smaller targets to hit. To win at Kiawah, the winner must have the ability to hit their irons with the right trajectory and distance control.
What Does It Take To Win The U.S. Open?
For a golfer, the month of June is known for two things: Fathers Day and the U.S. Open!

PLAYING IN THE WIND
In order to hit the ball lower, most players are taught to adjust their ball position by moving it to the trail foot. However, one issue could arise.

WHO WILL ADD GREEN TO THEIR WARDROBE THIS WEEK??
With Spring finally here, the Masters takes center stage (cue The Masters theme music). We all know the Masters is known for its approach shots and massive slopes on the greens. Being in top form coming into the week and being able to control your ball flight and distances is key to winning the tournament. In this entry, I’ll be giving you my dark horse, contender and who I think will be putting on the green jacket.
FROM THE RANGE TO THE COURSE
One question I always received as a teaching professional was, “why can’t I take my range game to the course?” As golfers, we are always trying to mess with our swing, mess with our equipment, or we mess with our setup. But we often neglect how to transfer our practice sessions to the course.

WHEN YOU CAN’T GO TO THE COURSE…BRING THE COURSE TO YOU
Let’s face it, winter golf is the worst time of the year. The weather is cold and unpredictable, often making it impossible to get out to the course. But, if you’re a SkyTrak owner, you can play golf anytime; on your terms! In fact, I spend most of my winter playing major championship courses and working on my short game. With our catalog of simulation options, championship golf is only a click away! Learn a little bit more about them below – and don’t forget to click the hyperlinks!
KNOW YOUR TENDENCIES
For four years as a college player, I recorded my stats after each round. As a result, I knew my strengths and my weaknesses. Afterwards, as a team we would have a game plan going into our practice sessions — knowing exactly what we need to be working on. As I’ve transitioned out of being able to play every day, I’ve looked to SkyTrak to help me streamline my practice sessions because I simply don’t get to practice as much as I used to. In my opinion, the most underrated feature of SkyTrak is the Skills Assessment. Why? Because I use it multiple times a month to help address those weaknesses I see in my stats.
MY FAVORITE FEATURE — THE WEDGE MATRIX
Growing up I was never the longest hitter. I rarely missed fairways but I would be very lucky to hit a driver over 260 yards. It would frustrate me being outdrove by 20 – 30 yards on average, but it was something I grew accustomed to. But, one thing I had to my advantage was my short game. That is where I could make up shots over the longer hitters. Inside of 120 yards I could give myself a very good look at birdie or save par when I would miss the green.
HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR SHOTS OFF THE TEE
Driver: most recreational golfers struggle with this club the most. By trying to hit it hard and not being able to keep the ball in the fairway, most recreational players tend to strive for perfection thinking they can hit the driver 300 yards every time they touch the club. In reality, that is not the case. During a typical round of golf, Rory Mcilroy, widely regarded as the best driver on the planet, might hit 1 – 2 perfect drives. Seems crazy when you think about it, but those “perfect” drives come from a proper setup and not having to manipulate the club when it is in a bad position to make proper contact.
A NEW APPROACH TO IRON PLAY
Growing up I was an aggressive iron player. I would go for any pin regardless of its location. I had a pretty good short game so missing greens was never an issue. But, I never gave myself many realistic chances for birdies. If I played well, I would typically have one to two birdies a round. As I got to college, I heard two phrases that would completely change my approach to iron play:
THE SKYTRAK LAUNCH MONITOR: A HEAVY CRUISER
If you were a naval enthusiast, you’d be hard pressed to categorize the SkyTrak launch monitor. Trackman, Foresight and FlightScope are the aircraft carriers of the fleet. And small driving-range aids such as MEVO, Rapsodo or Voice Caddie are more like frigates or destroyers.
THE RIGHT SHOT AT THE RIGHT TIME!
The Traveler’s Championship is known for dramatic finishes. From Jordan Spieth’s dramatic hole out from the bunker to Jim Furyk’s record 58, you never know what to expect when the pro’s tee it up at TPC River Highlands. The course offers an exciting 4‑hole finish from a very gettable par 4 to a very precise shot required on the par 3 16.
